Well, July has come and gone. We are still in Texas. Blanca retired from teaching in June, and our home has been on the (obviously dead) market since the first of April, so I have no choice but to keep working, just to pay the *OP%$*@%^% mortgage.....no word from La Migracion since we obtained our 'comprobantes' in March.........now, the school where Blanca used to teach has called and wants her to commit to substituting for one of their faculty members, who will be out for at least a month, maybe up to three or more........
On the one hand, we had been thinking that we have to be ready to go at the drop of a hat, as we have heard that when La Migracion does finally 'notify' you that you have an appointment to pick up your cedula, you only get a few days (at most) warning, and you had better not miss that appointment. I have also heard that once you have the cedula, you must be able to prove at least four months residence within CR, over the next year (from whatever arbitrary date is on the cedula).
I am beginning to feel like we are caught between a rock and a hard place. If the house doesn't sell, we don't feel right just walking away from it, even it has lost all value! But, if CR finally calls, we are anxious to begin our new lives in Costa Rica! d**ned if we do & d**ned if we don't!
Well, maybe something good will happen in August. Wish us luck.
